We read to know we're not alone.

Reading means many things for many people. For me, reading is escapism and self-care. The ability to shut the world off, and focus on a narrative that takes me out of myself. A way to learn about the world, its people and their stories. An exercise in empathy, and walking in someone else's shoes with the sole purpose to learn and understand.

But, it's not only about the stories. Reading is also a practical way to have less screen-time or my chosen method of mindfulness that day. In an increasingly connected world, taking time for yourself can be seen as an act of rebellion. Reading is that rebellion.

So, what book would I recommend for another reader? Well, there's a few but I absolutely adore Tuesdays with Morrie. The book is a fantastic story of human resilience, friendship and love.
